DANCEbank Summer Intensive

an ongoing series of classes led by some of the finest of Los Angeles' movers, dance experimenters, improvisers, interdisciplinary boundary blenders & somatic investigators.


teaching artists include: Rae Shao-Lan Blum, Simone Forti, MIra Kingsley, Liz Maxwell, Hana van der Kolk, Sara Wookey, Rebecca Alson-Milkman, Olivier Tarpaga, Taisha Paggett, Meg Wolfe, Liz Casebolt & Joel Smith.


DANCEbank: Summer Intensive, week one

Tuesday/Thursday classes are $12.
weekend classes are $40 for both days (encouraged), or $25 for a single day.

f i e l d: an improvisation workshop in the territory and mind-set of space

field (feeld), (n.) a body of open ground. (v.) to deal with, to put out.

This workshop is centered around heightening awareness of internal and
external space. The space we occupy and the space we move- what is
moving, what is still- within us, around us, between us. It is open to
both experienced and beginner improvisers who want to develop or hone
skills of perception, presence and spontaneity. Basic craniosacral
anatomy will be integrated as a grounding reference in sensing and
tracking. We will dance big, we will dance intricate, we will move the
big-small space.

Live Thought Moving / Speaking Workshop

The improvisation is the kite. The chosen subject the thread that holds the
kite as it rises on the wind of impulses, words, memories, movements and
associations. Bring paper and pen.
