CONTRA-TIEMPO'S 5th Year Anniversary Gala

Come celebrate CONTRA-TIEMPOS 5th year with an evening of performances, salsa lessons, and an unforgettable post-show party!

The show will include a variety of performances: excerpts from our newest work "Routes Enredados," a beautiful rueda with elementary school students from our residency work in the Pico Union District of Los Angeles, a new piece created with the young people of Echoes of Hope (an organization serving foster youth who have aged out of the system), and much more! It will be a night of uplifting beauty and inspiring dancing! In our 7 p.m. pre-show Salsa Lesson, company members will teach a Cuban style Salsa lesson-- all levels welcome! The Gala performance will begin at 8 p.m. and afterward, there will be silent auctions, raffles, opportunities to meet the artists, special guests, and a post show party to remember!

CONTRA-TIEMPO is a non-profit, Los Angeles based, activist dance company, founded in 2005 and directed by Ana Maria Alvarez. CONTRA-TIEMPO is dedicated to transforming the world through dance. We build community, facilitate dialogue, and move youth to imagine what is possible in the world.

CONTRA-TIEMPO "represents the kind of socially aware contemporary work that only a few dance artists such as Bill T. Jones reliably provide... in heart, mind and soul this is the real thing!" -Los Angeles Times
