Isadora Duncan Inspires "Natural Beauty"
Painting and Sculpting Patron members of the California Art Club will present a juried exhibition and sale of contemporary traditional fine art exploring the theme “Natural Beauty”. The event is hosted by the Women’s City Club of Pasadena and will be held at the Historic Blinn House located at 160 N. Oakland Avenue in Pasadena. The artwork will be on display from June 23rd to November 26th with viewing hours Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm.
The public is invited to the artist’s reception on Saturday July 12th starting at 5pm and to attend the dinner program and performance at 7pm which will feature a dramatic presentation on the life and work of Isadora Duncan by noted actress Kres Mersky. As Isadora Duncan, Kres brings to life the great dancer's fascinating persona as she cajoles, beguiles, and stirs the audience to support her school of dance. Adapted freely from Duncan's own writings, Ms. Mersky's one-woman show provides a full-dimensioned portrait of this great, early 20th-century woman, whose provocative views on art, women's rights, education, marriage and love continue to inspire to this day.
Reservations can be made by calling the Women’s City Club at (626) 796-0560. For more information, contact the California Art Club at (626) 583-9009 or visit www.californiaartclub.org.
