Rage to Know Part II

Elevators, stairs, flower beds and garbage cans become the arena where the high concepts of physics and the visceral experience of contemporary dance interact in Rage to Know part II. A co-production with the Santa Monica Library, this project is part of Donna Sternberg & Dancers on-going science series, which interprets scientific principles through dance. Continuing the company’s exploration of quantum physics, DS&D creates a site-specific work in the courtyard of the Santa Monica Main Library where unusual spaces and places become the stage for the dancers. The dance progresses from the outside area to the Martin Luther King Jr. auditorium where there will be a showing of a new short film produced in collaboration with Michael Masucci/EZTV which expands the theme of quantum physics with video and digital artistry. Images on the screen split, multiply and become glimpses into dimensions that may or may not be existing at the same time. Science fiction approximates real science as time, space and energy assume mysterious and strange properties. Dance, film and science meet to create an intriguing glimpse into a world that is both familiar and unfamiliar.
