Beginner Burlesque Class, Holiday Open House & Burlesque Bazaar

Taught by award-winning burlesque dancers JEWEL OF DENIAL and PENNY STARR, JR., LA’s only on-going burlesque classes, STRIPTEASE SYMPOSIUM, is having a HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE AND BURLESQUE BAZAAR, Sunday Dec 13th from 1 to 3pm.

The event kicks off with a FREE BEGINNER BURLESQUE CLASS taught by Striptease Symposium’s newest instructor, RED SNAPPER. Miss Snapper will be teaching DOWN AND DIRTY: FLOOR WORK FOR BURLESQUE. Learn how to demonstrate sensuality for the audience in a safe environment with slow, sultry floor techniques. Become comfortable in your own skin. Put these skills on their feet and use them to mesmerize an audience.

Spend time enjoying our BURLESQUE BAZAAR with accessories including handmade pasties, hair flowers, corsets, ‘doll’ hats, fans, ‘spicy’ undergarments while sipping free mimosas.

Then enjoy performances from the PAST GRADUATES of the Striptease Symposium solo classes: BEBE FIREFLY, HOLLY ROCK-IT, PANAMA RED, IONA VIBRATOR, LUCILLE HIGHBALL, JESSABELLE THUNDER, COSTA BRAVA and HONEY IMA HOME.

This event is open to all curious kittens, closet showgirls, students, housewives, princesses, designers, artists, seasoned burlesquers, sideshow freaks, rockabilly babes, strippers, boy-lesques—anyone interested in the art of the striptease.

The event will be Sunday, Dec 13th from 1 to 3pm at Ography Dance (6767 Sunset Blvd. At Highland). Free underground parking available.

Suggested donation to this event is $5.

“A Delightful Sexpot” LA WEEKLY. Granddaughter of Philadelphia burlesque legend Penny Starr Sr, PENNY STARR, JR. is “the Pe-Tite Barnum of Burlesque”: director of the documentary THE VELVET HAMMER BURLESQUE and the Princess Farhana line of dance videos, First Runner-Up Miss Exotic World 2004, co-founder of Striptease Symposium burlesque classes and producer of both Victory Variety Hour and Club Schmutzig in Los Angeles.

Holding (half) the title of Miss Exotic World Best Duo 2008, JEWEL OF DENIAL began her burlesque career when she entered the sparkling world of the Velvet Hammer Burlesque, LA's pioneering neo-burlesque troupe. Jewel has graced stages in Las Vegas, Hollywood, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle, Washington D.C., London, and Amsterdam. With years of movement training, Jewel brings not just the bump-and-grind, but lindy hop, swing, jive, hip-hop, capoeria, power yoga, even breakdancing!

Known for “sass, class and look at that ass!” RED SNAPPER has studied burlesque with Bump and Grind 101, Academy of Burlesque, New York School of Burlesque, Striptease Symposium, Princess Farhana, burlesque legends Wild Cherry and April March…the list goes on. She is a regular performer at Monday Night Tease, Victory Variety Hour and Peepshow Menagerie, and has taught pole and chair dancing with Aphrodite Strip-N-Pole in West Hollywood, as well as coached a number of actresses in the art of striptease, has choreographed for Theater Unleashed, and even held a tassel twirling clinic for men.
