Beg/Int Contemporary Modern

Beginning/intermediate contemporary modern dance is an introduction to the fundamentals of creative movement as a form of expression. The class will focus on the basic principles of alignment, center strengthening, balance, flexibility and rhythm. The center warm-up will be a starting point for the development of these ideas using contractions, swinging, balancing, stretching, and yoga. Basic progressions across the floor will also incorporate these principles as well as encourage more freedom of movement. The center combinations are generally modern, contemporary, and lyrical and will involve articulation of the spine, footwork, lines, and basic jumping.
