Butoh Artists and Modern Dancers
For “Equus” by Peter Shaffer.
The Morgan Wixson Theatre is seeking strong butoh artists and contemporary dancers (Male and Female), for an upcoming physical theatre production of Peter Shaffer’s award winning play “Equus”. Madeleine Dahm, Dir. Kristy Pace, Prod. Performances run weekends Sep. 17 - Oct. 9
This play has a strong movement component, with butoh and expressionistic influences. It requires a highly focused and statuesque movement ensemble. Movement artists represent abstract horses (myth and archetype), and are on stage throughout the play.

Director Profile:
Dahm received her training in dramatic arts at the acclaimed Old Vic Theatre and The Royal Court in London. She received an international scholarship to study with Martha Graham. Dahm performed for over twenty years in major concert venues and opera houses including: Royal Sadlers Wells Theatre, the National Theatre, and Covent Garden. Dahm has directed and created movement design for productions at major international performing festivals, short film and original works for theatrical stages across Europe, in New York, London and Los Angeles. International press has described her work as: “Innovative and poetic.” Dahm received critical acclaim for her work as Artistic Director of Garung Physical Theatre, (Critics Choice - The Los Angeles Times.) Dahm developed movement concepts for The Edinburgh Festival smash hit ‘I Miss Communism’ by Ines Wurth’s, and created the Movement Design for Ovation Award winning production ‘Home’ by Zoo District Theatre Company.
